Yuya Parker

Yuya Parker is a Japanese fine art photographer and art director based in Los Angeles. With a background in painting, Yuya approaches photographic color and composition in a painterly way, while often incorporating whimsical details inspired by anything from ikebana to extraterrestrial life.

Food as Contemporary Art series is a celebration of food, in which edible items express moments of joy by sprouting leaves or flowers. The images are also a nod to ikebana, a traditional form of Japanese flower arrangement. As a child in Japan, Yuya would watch his grandmother create beautiful ikebana arrangements in her home. Nowadays, he creates these minimalist food and plant hybrids as a way to celebrate his food adventures in Los Angeles. The collection also includes collaborative works.
